Prepare Before You Hit “Record”
Do not start the video until everything is ready.
Have visible and ready:
- Permanent signage (logo + business name)
- Access to the location (keys, keypad, badge, etc.)
- Branded materials (business cards, invoices, uniforms, vehicle wrap)
- Tools or workspace relevant to your business
If signage is missing or temporary → high failure rate.
- 02
Start Outside (Location Proof)
Begin recording outside the building.
Show clearly:
- Street sign or nearby landmark
- Building exterior
- Business sign with the exact business name as listed on GBP
Say nothing unless prompted — Google does not require narration.
This proves the business is real and physically located there.
- 03
Enter the Premises (Access Proof)
Without stopping the video:
- Unlock the door
- Use a keypad
- Swipe a badge
- Open a private office
Do NOT cut, pause, or edit the video.
This proves you control the location.
- 04
Show the Interior (Legitimacy Proof)
Inside the business, slowly show:
- Workstations or office setup
- Tools or equipment used for the business
- POS system, computer logged into business software, or scheduling system
- Staff area (if applicable)
The interior should match the business category (e.g., marketing office ≠ warehouse).
- 05
Prove Ownership / Authority
End the video by showing one or more of the following:
- Business license displayed
- Utility bill or lease with business name (if visible)
- Branded invoices or contracts
- Company email address logged into a device
- Vehicle with permanent branding (for service businesses)
This ties you to the business.
Critical Technical Rules
Common failure points.
Don’t violate these
- No screen recordings
- No pre-recorded or edited videos
- No voiceovers, filters, or music
- No showing private residential areas (bedrooms, kitchens)
- No temporary signs (paper, banners taped up)
Do this instead
- One continuous video (30 sec–2 min)
- Good lighting
- Steady movement
- Landscape mode
Service-Area Businesses (No Storefront)
If you don’t have public signage:
- Show your branded vehicle
- Show tools inside the vehicle
- Show access to a locked garage or office
- Show business documents inside
Your address must still be valid, even if hidden.
Pro Tips That Increase First-Try Approval
- Match signage exactly to GBP name (no extra words)
- Verify during business hours
- Use a mobile device with GPS enabled
- Avoid coworking spaces unless you have permanent signage and exclusive office access
If It Still Fails
- Wait for Google’s rejection reason
- Fix only the issue mentioned
- Retry video verification (don’t switch methods unless prompted)
